Seller Guidelines
Last updated
In short
- List only genuine products you're allowed to sell, and describe them honestly.
- Link only to the real product pages on legitimate marketplaces.
- Keep prices, offers and key product details accurate.
- You're responsible for complying with consumer protection and marketplace rules.
This summary is for convenience; the full text below is what applies.
1. Listing products
- Only list products you own, manufacture, resell with authorisation, or promote with permission.
- Use your own photos or images you're licensed to use. Don't copy other brands' images or descriptions.
- Product names and descriptions must be accurate. Don't use misleading keywords, other brands' names or false claims (for example "original", "certified", "best-selling") unless true.
- Health, safety and performance claims must be truthful and supportable.
2. Prices and offers
- Prices and discounts shown in your catalogue should match what the shopper will see on the marketplace. Remove or update stale offers.
- Where you show an MRP or discount, it must comply with the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011 and must not be inflated to exaggerate a discount.
- Don't run fake countdown timers, false scarcity or other dark patterns prohibited by the Guidelines for Prevention and Regulation of Dark Patterns, 2023.
3. Marketplace links
- Every Buy link must go to the genuine page for that product on the named marketplace or your own store.
- Don't use catalogue links to redirect shoppers to phishing pages, unrelated sites, or payment pages that impersonate a marketplace.
- Follow each marketplace's own seller policies, including rules on external traffic and affiliate links.
- If you earn commission through affiliate links, disclose it in your catalogue description.
4. Your catalogue profile
- Use a shop name and catalogue link that you have the right to use and that don't impersonate another brand or person.
- Provide a way for customers to reach you; the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 may require sellers to disclose name, address and grievance contact.
5. Prohibited products
Don't list products that are illegal to sell in India or are banned by the marketplaces you link to, including counterfeit goods, prescription drugs, weapons and ammunition, tobacco and e-cigarettes, wildlife products and adult content. See our Acceptable Use Policy for the full list.
6. Enforcement
We may hide products, unpublish catalogues or suspend accounts that don't follow these guidelines, as set out in our Terms of Service. Repeated or serious breaches lead to termination.
